Robert Hovden and Nicholas Kotov, U-M materials science and engineering professors, discuss the development of a 3D visualization software that connects directly to an electron microscope, allowing researchers to see and manipulate 3D visualizations of nanomaterials in real-time. With these capabilities, research regarding microprocessors, EV batteries, lightweight materials, and more could be dramatically sped up. The faculty experts further highlight findings from their research study and the implications of such software.
