Researchers at Michigan Medicine are looking into multiple potential factors that could help explain why Black Americans have higher risks of developing fibroids than their white counterparts. Erica Marsh, M.D., professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Michigan Medical School, discusses the health disparities and political and social drivers, not biological differences, in the development of fibroids and why the rates of diagnosis differ as they do.
