The slight increase in consumer sentiment from August to September looks to be negligible when referenced historically. Joanne Hsu, a U-M economist and director of the surveys, discusses what the University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers concluded for the month regarding inflation and the impact on the sentiment. The monthly survey includes 50 questions on how consumers feel about specific economic indicators (buying a home, etc.).
