U-M Forecast: Detroit Economy Overcoming Pandemic Challenges While Grappling With Recession Fears

According to a University of Michigan study, Detroit has experienced greater economic hardship than the rest of the US during the pandemic. Even with the threat of a looming recession, the city is expected to recover. With unemployment rates nearing pre-pandemic levels, job growth rates are expected to increase, though at a lower rate, through to 2027. The forecast suggests that the city’s job rate will recover by 2023.
