Cellphones are benefiting Honduran migrants who are making their way to the United States in more ways than one. According to Sylvia Darling, a doctoral candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information, digital technologies play an important role during the migration journey, amidst concerns and dangers surrounding carrying mobile devices. Darling conducted a study consisting of 26 interviews with Hondurans to learn about the difficult and hostile journey made up of over 2,700 miles of desert as well as the advantages, or in some cases disadvantages, technology played into their journey.
