James Neel passed away in his home in Ann Arbor, MI, in February of 2000. During his life, Neel accomplished a great deal. Recognized as one of the greatest scientists in the University’s history and a pioneer of human genetics, Neel led the way on many groundbreaking efforts with genetic diseases.
