Gig jobs, similar to work by independent contractors and freelancers, allow millions of people to earn more money and set their own hours, but that is not enough to retain some of these workers. A team of researchers led by Yan Chen, a U-M professor of information, developed a series of experiments to analyze engagement and attrition in the gig economy.
