Can taking pride in the aesthetics of your community reduce crime and violence in your neighborhood? Research conducted by the U-M Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention and the Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center shows that communities engaged in cleaning, mowing, and repurposing vacant spaces are likely to experience more significant reductions in violence and violence crime than in non-participating neighborhoods.
