Michigan Medicine, School of Information, and Engineering researcher Mark Ackerman and Institute for Social Research lead research Jon D. Miller are co-authors of a new study that discusses the level of public acceptance of evolution in the United States. They note that the level is above the halfway mark, becoming the “major position in 2016.” The faculty experts analyze survey data, finding that those who earned college degrees had a little “respect for the success of science,” whereas those who rejected evolution was because they identified with “religious fundamentalism.” Ackerman and Miller further explain the politicization of religion.
