As adolescents use social media, unhealthy consequences might be the outcome for some people. A poll recently released discussed that ages 14-24 are having negative impacts of social media because of its effects on mood, relationships, emotional health, and safety. Jane Harness, D.O., a child and adolescent psychiatrist at the University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, discusses that people use social media because of their emotional ties to it and to limit exposure to content that evokes negative feelings.
