U-M electrical engineering and computer science associate professor Kevin Fu discusses research regarding a new wireless system, VeriMask, that is able to sense when N95 face masks are properly decontaminated. Since dangerous pathogens can survive the decontamination process when the temperature or humidity are slightly low, this new system “takes the guesswork” out of when the masks are properly decontaminated. Fu highlights that this system is faster, safer, easier, and more affordable for the healthcare community, explaining the components and construction of VeriMask.
