U-M assistant professor of mechanical engineering Daniel Cooper discusses research regarding a new $2 million project, “The Clean Sheet Project,” aimed at making recyclable lightweight automotive sheet metals that are easier and more cost-effective. Cooper highlights that vehicle manufacturers, specifically electric cars, hope to recycle from start to finish of production, reducing the environmental impact. The faculty expert further explains the process of this project, noting that it will help reduce both emissions and destructive mining.
