Single-use carry-out containers are a significant component of creating waste within the restaurant industry. Researchers from the University of Michigan commenced a study that compared single-use ware to reusable containers and found that the reusable alternatives would initially use more energy and generate more climate-altering greenhouse gases. However, reusable containers could break even with single-use containers after four to 13 uses.
