Those with brain tumors with the mutated enzyme IDH1  have a greater chance of living longer but a likelier chance of the tumors returning. Researchers at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center uncovered a gene that is overexposed in mutated IDH1 called ZMYND8, which causes radiation resistance in the gene. Maria G. Castro, Ph.D. discusses the differences in tumors and the aggressive nature of some tumors versus others.
