For optimal development of social skills, a healthy maternal relationship is necessary at a young age. But what happens when this relationship is not feasible? Researchers at the University of Michigan conducted a study in which the findings suggest that teens can still reap the same social skill advantages with engaged, trusted neighbors as they could with a strong bond with their mother at a young age.
