Poll Shows Impact of Menopause and Other Health Issues on Older Women’s Sex Lives

New findings from the U-M National Poll on Healthy Aging suggest that many older women have active sex lives into their 70s, but health concerns, including menopause symptoms, often get in the way of intimacy. Among women polled, only 44% of those with menopause symptoms had discussed treatment with their health care provider. Daniel Morgan, M.D., a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Michigan Medicine, shares insights on the report and other key findings on sexual activity and satisfaction of women over 50.
