A team of researchers from U-M and Denmark hopes their findings on binary stars have made us one step closer to finding extraterrestrial life. Edwin Bergin, U-M Department of Astronomy chair and study co-author, discusses research regarding the formation of planetary systems and binary stars. Bergin notes that binary star systems influence planetary formation tremendously, explaining that they can also help search for extraterrestrial life. The faculty expert highlights findings from the research and other observations.
