Solar energy is seen by some as the future of renewable energy resources, but it has flaws, one of which is energy leaks during the absence of light. Bin Liu, a postdoctoral researcher in electrical and computer engineering at U-M, suggests that energy transport is one of the more pivotal steps when harvesting solar energy and converting energy. Liu explores how a new approach more efficiently moves energy and could reduce energy losses by converting light into electricity.
