Does receiving dental care provide any advantages in recovering from acute incidents such as heart attacks? According to a study conducted by University of Michigan researchers, patients who had heart attacks and received periodontal maintenance care had the shortest length of stay in the hospital and more follow-up visits. Romesh Nalliah, associate dean for patient services at the U-M School of Dentistry, further details the study and findings.
