U-M Ford School of Public Policy professor  Shobita Parthasarathy discusses the bias that exists in COVID-19 pandemic science. Science has been “politicized and polarized” throughout the pandemic, and Parthasarathy notes that bias is “natural,” yet scientists need to “recognize and respond to those biases.” The faculty expert further highlights that scientists need to be advocates when engaging in public debates rather than solely joining the conversation due to the fact that they are scientists.
