One in 10 Older Americans Has Dementia

For the first time in over 20 years, a cognitive impairment study was completed nationally and found that for adults over the age of 65, about 1 in 10 have dementia. The study, led by University of Michigan scientists in partnership with Columbia University, also found that another 22% have mild cognitive impairments, noted more in black and Hispanic people, and those with lower education levels.
