Female Manager In Glasses Addressing Businesswomen In Meeting

During the pandemic, we saw much academic work stifled. Still, thanks to the Institute for Social Research’s Next Generation Initiative award, researchers such as Shanice Battle, a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health, could continue. Shanice’s research focuses on the structural factors contributing to depression and stress in adults. This award provided her with funding to attend several vital conferences and training that supported the surveying and modeling necessary to effectively complete her research and write her dissertation. Coincidentally, this award helped to alleviate Shanice’s stress, a feeling that is commonly felt while completing dissertations. Battle concluded her Ph.D. in 2021, and since then, her work has continued to promote equity for women in academia through the University.
