U-M electrical and computer engineering & biomedical engineering professor Euisik Yoon discusses the collaboration between Michigan and New York University, leading to new insights regarding how neurons work in the brain’s hippocampus. The research focused on “seemingly inactive neurons” and whether or not they have unique traits or if they “simply take on different functions at different times.” Yoon highlights their research, probes, and the impact of this discovery on brain research and potential breakthroughs.
