Glycogen storage diseases are when an individual’s body is unable to store or break down glycogen. Glycogen is deposited in bodily tissues where it stores energy that can be broken down easily. Although these types of diseases are rare, they can lead to issues in the liver. A new study examined the relationship between genetic variants throughout the human genome and liver attenuation.
