New Study Challenges Old Views On Whats Primitive In Mammalian Reproduction 2048x2048
Presented by Michigan News

Lucas Weaver, U-M department of ecology and evolutionary biology postdoctoral researcher and lead author, discusses the reproductive strategy of extinct multituberculates. Weaver explains that they likely reproduced in a placental-like manner, noting that it is either the ancestral reproductive route for all mammals that give birth or that this reproduction evolved independently in both multituberculates and placentals. He further highlights research findings from the study.
