U-M School of Education associate professor Christina Weiland discusses the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic for early childhood education (ECE) centers. Looking at teacher turnover rates, enrollment decreases, and safety protocols, Weiland notes that these aspects have strained resources and stalled quality improvements. The faculty expert along with researchers from other universities are using a multi-pronged approach and interviews to address the issue of under-investment in early childhood sectors.
