Steven Schwendeman, U-M biomedical engineering and pharmaceutical sciences professor, discusses a new drug delivery microencapsulation approach. The approach allows drugs, such as peptide therapeutics, to be released into the body over time. Schwendeman notes that this concept can be performed with other peptide drugs, and they are working on expanding to other large molecular drugs for longer periods.
