Nearly 1/3 of People with Chronic Pain Turn to Cannabis

As more states legalize cannabis for medical and recreational usage, the amount of people experimenting with it for pain relief is also increasing. Almost half of adults polled in a survey completed by the University of Michigan say they have used cannabis to help mitigate pain instead of conventional clinical practices and recommendations. Mark Bicket, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, discusses substituting cannabis for pain medications and the necessary research to be completed to prove actual benefits.
