U-M naval architecture and marine engineering associate professor Matthew D. Collette discusses the Biden administration’s support of the Jones Act, noting the ramifications the administration’s approval. Collette highlights that it is very significant as many offshore wind farms are “moving closer to reality… located inside the United State’s exclusive economic zone,” which is off the New England and mid-Atlantic states. The faculty expert further explains that the Jones Act will bolster growth in the renewable energy sector and “opens the door for a new sector of the domestic marine industry to grow.”
