A lot of older research has focused heavily on groups of people with European ancestry, not reflective of diverse patient populations. A new study delved into the genes that may cause high blood cholesterol levels. The findings highlighted that genetic variants that cause “bad” cholesterol seem to be similar for many participants, except for specific variants that were found across populations.
