U-M Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences assistant professor, geophysicist, and co-author of the study Yihe Huang explores the connection between Lake Erie seismicity and fluctuating water levels in the lake. Compiling a catalog of over 400 small Lake-Erie area earthquakes between 2013-2020, the researchers found no conclusive correlation between earthquake rate and water-level change rate. The faculty expert further highlights the study and provides findings from their research.
