Experts across the US have spent recent years trying to understand better and address significant racial disparities and inequities dealing specifically with black mothers. The alarming data indicates that Black people are twice as likely to have difficulties than their counterparts, and the conversations around patients are becoming worrisome. Alex Peahl, M.D., MS.c., an obstetrician-gynecologist at the University of Michigan Health Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital and co-director of MiPATH (Michigan Plan for Appropriate, Tailored Healthcare in Pregnancy), discusses the healthcare inequities for care delivery research.
