Will society listen next time there is a pandemic breakout? The adage that history repeats itself holds true, especially in medicine, and it is because of this researchers were able to save roughly 1.7 million lives in the US alone. Considering the similarities and differences of these viruses, future pandemic responses will use recent data to analyze how to better mitigate the spread with mask-wearing and how to more efficiently “flatten the curve” to save more lives sooner.
