Graphene-hBN Breakthrough to Spur New LEDs, Quantum Computing

A U-M research team has developed the first reliable, scalable method for growing single layers of hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) on graphene in a discovery that could speed research into next-generation electronics and LED devices. Zetian Mi, a professor of electrical engineering and computer science at U-M, explains how this new development will be able to power LEDs with deep-UV light and create more efficient devices for items such as lasers and air purifiers.
