Elliott Rouse, U-M mechanical engineering assistant professor, Robotics Institute core faculty member, and senior author of a new study in Science Robotics, and Kim Ingraham, recent mechanical engineering Ph.D. graduate and first author, discuss the development of a user-personalized exoskeleton. Utilizing various forms of data and active user feedback, the experts implemented the different characteristics of human bodies, gait biomechanics, and user preferences to assist an individual. They further highlight the study and the process behind the exoskeleton project.
