Join fellow history lovers and the William L. Clements Library on September 16 for the next installment of the Bookworm webinar series. Mark Clague, a U-M professor of musicology and American culture and associate dean of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance, will discuss his book “O Say Can You Hear?, A Cultural Biography of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner.'” Clague brilliantly weaves together the stories of the song and the nation it represents in his newest book, examining the origins of both text and music, alternate lyrics and translations, and the song’s use in sports, at times of war, and for political protest.
The Alumni Association of the University of Michigan is proud to sponsor this episode of the Clements Bookworm.
