Presented by University Library

Fort Michilimackinac was established by the French in 1715 and taken over by the British in 1761. It was home to a diverse community of soldiers, missionaries, fur traders and their families. Historical and archaeological research has been conducted at the site beginning in 1915. Lynn Evans, Curator of Archaeology for Mackinac State Historic Parks, will focus on how history and archeology work to help us better understand the time period.
