Forty thousands deaths and injuries occur annually due to firearms, such as homicides, suicides and accidents. Research on the issue is starting again after an almost twenty-five year hiatus due to a lack of federal funding because of political reasons. U-M injury prevention researchers are focusing on how to prevent harm while respecting Second Amendment rights.
