Dinosaur Killing Asteroid Triggered Global Tsunami That Scoured Seafloor Thousands Of Miles From Impact Site P11 3a 1536x968
Presented by Michigan News

About 66 million years ago, a 12-km asteroid made contact with the earth, causing not only the extinction of the dinosaurs but two-thirds of other plant and animal life on the planet. According to a new study by the University of Michigan, the asteroid also triggered a tsunami with mile-high waves that scoured the ocean floor thousands of miles from the impact site on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Researchers explore how the geological record corroborates their findings, the energy impact, and more.
