Elisabeth Gerber, U-M Institute for Social Research Center for Political Studies public policy professor and Detroit Metro Area Communities Study (DMACS) faculty research lead, discusses Detroit’s current 20% unemployment rate. Gerber highlights the “significant disparities” regarding the unemployment rate, noting those in the labor force, people of color, low-wage earners, and residents without college degrees as those most affected. The faculty expert further explains findings from this research study.
