A team of researchers, using University of Michigan data collected at the now-closed U-M Radio Astronomy Observatory at the Peach Mountain Observatory, has identified a pair of supermassive black holes caught in the act of merging 13 billion light-years away. Margo Aller, a U-M astronomer and research scientist, has been working at the observatory since the 1970s. Aller and a team of astronomers from CalTech discuss their study, evidence, and findings.
