The eyes do not have routine molecular diagnosis tests, even though they have a gel-like fluid that can be sampled. Ophthalmologists often do not want to sample the eyes for fluid with a needle unless they know that something is wrong. At times, clinicians may make diagnoses and provide treatment plans without getting an adequate sample. Researchers have been examining ways to create a safe device that ensures adequate fluid samples with a standard process.
