Ventilators have been used throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the decision to put patients on them or take them off is a difficult one. Michigan Medicine researchers have been discovering best practices for mechanical ventilators. They outline ways to reduce time spent on a ventilator and death in acute respiratory distress patients, which often is related to severe COVID-19 cases.
