U-M civil and environmental engineering assistant research scientist Duo Zhang and professor of advanced energy research Volker Sick et al. discuss in an article for The Conversation the “next generation of concrete technology.” The faculty experts highlight the impact of concrete in regard to climate change, noting that this new concrete technology can help reduce infrastructure’s carbon footprint as well as increase its durability. By creating a “bendable concrete material,” it will allow the construction of thinner, less brittle structures, ultimately reducing carbon emissions.
