Ian Roederer, U-M astronomer and lead author, discusses the discovery of an exceptional star beyond our solar system. The star, HD 222925, has 65 elements, a record for any object beyond our solar system. Roederer explores how the star will help astronomers understand the rapid neutron capture process, one of the ways heavy elements in the universe were created, and the instruments that he and his team used, including the Hubble Space Telescope.
