Research has found that COVID-19 has disproportionately affected women in numerous ways throughout academic medicine. Women are underrepresented as authors of academic research papers that have been published during the pandemic. Reshma Jagsi, MD, Phil, deputy chair of radiation oncology and director of the Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine at Michigan Medicine and Alangoya Tezel, medical student at Michigan Medicine, recently studied the representation of physicians during the COVID-19 news cycle.
