Ketra Armstrong, professor of sport management and director of the Center for Race and Ethnicity in Sport at the University of Michigan, explores the National Hockey League’s commitment to diversity. The NHL released its first workplace demographic study last week, reporting that 84% of employees across the league and 32 teams were white, and 62% were men. The faculty expert suggests that while this work may be performative, their commitment to key strategic areas and proposed action items could create change.
