SWAN, or the Study of Women’s Health Across the Nation, is a longitudinal multiracial/ethnic cohort study of middle-aged women. Some findings highlight the vastly different experience Black and white women have when they reach menopause. The findings reiterate the impact of structural racism on healthcare and how it can lead to health disparities between middle-aged Black and white women.
