FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is eligible to participate in the Football Saturdays program?

Current Alumni Association members are the ONLY persons eligible to participate in the Football Saturdays in Ann Arbor Ticket Program. Please note that only one application per member household may be submitted.

When will applications be accepted?

Applications may be submitted anytime between 9 a.m. EDT Tuesday, April 17, 2012 through 5 p.m. EDT Monday, April 30, 2012.

What do I need to do to make sure I fill out the application correctly?

In addition to providing your name and email address, you must rank (prioritize) ONLY the games you would be interested in purchasing tickets to. The game you MOST want to attend should be ranked #1.

You must also let us know how many tickets you would like. There’s a two ticket minimum/maximum for the Michigan State game; you may select 1-10 tickets for all other games.

After your application is submitted you’ll receive an (auto) email from the Alumni Association indicating we’ve received your application.

What happens if my application is selected?

Shortly after the deadline to submit has passed, individual applications will be randomly selected (from all applications received) and those persons selected will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to ONE home game.

Should your application be selected, you’ll be notified via email. Notification begins in early May and continues until all tickets have been purchased. This email message will include information regarding which game you’ve been selected to purchase tickets for, the number of tickets you may purchase (this will be the same number you indicated on the application form), the total purchase price and what you’ll then need to do to purchase those tickets.

You’ll have two weeks from the date of notice to purchase tickets. If we don’t receive payment within this timeframe your tickets will be re-assigned.

How much are the tickets?

Tickets for all 2012 home games are $75 each EXCEPT tickets for the Michigan State game which are $95. A $3 handling fee will be added to each ticket purchased.

Am I guaranteed to get my #1 ranked game if my application is selected?

No. Some games have a much higher demand than others (we’ll receive several thousand requests for Michigan State tickets) and thus, we’re not going to be able to meet this demand. This is why we highly recommend ranking at least two games when submitting the application form.

If you’ve ranked more than one game and your application is selected, you’ll only be able to purchase tickets to the game for which you were selected.

What if my application is selected for a game I can’t attend?

When you submit your Football Saturdays application, you’re making a commitment to accept any one of the games you’ve ranked. Please only rank the games you’re able/willing to purchase tickets for.

However, if your application is selected for a game you don’t want to attend, you don’t have to purchase tickets. You’ll have two weeks from the date of notice to purchase tickets. If you don’t purchase them within this timeframe your tickets will simply be re-assigned.

What happens if my application isn’t selected?

If your application is NOT selected through the lottery process you’ll be notified via email and we’ll provide information regarding other options for purchasing tickets. This message will be delivered prior to the start of any public sale offered through the Athletic Ticket Office.

Please remember that Alumni Association members will also have the opportunity to purchase football tickets to the Homecoming game against Illinois (October 13) in conjunction with our 36th Annual Go Blue Tailgate.)

What are the odds of my application being selected?

The chance of your application being selected is dependent on how many applications we receive and how each game is ranked. For example, those ranking a non-conference game as their #1 priority will have a much greater chance of having their application selected than those who rank the Michigan State game as their #1 priority simply due to the discrepancy in demand.

Does it matter when I submit my application?

No. There’s no longer any benefit to submitting your application early. As long as we receive your application during the April 17, 2012 to April 30, 2012 submittal period you have an equal chance of being selected.

When will my credit card be charged?

If your application is selected through the lottery process you’ll be notified via email with information regarding which game you may purchase tickets for and the ordering process. Your credit card will not be charged until you actually purchase the tickets online.

Again, you’ll have two weeks from the date of notice to purchase tickets. If we don’t receive payment within this timeframe the tickets will be re-assigned.

When will I receive my tickets if I my application is selected and I purchase tickets?

Game tickets will be mailed no less than three weeks prior to the game you purchased and most likely will be mailed prior to the start of the season. Tickets will be distributed based on when the game is being played -– tickets for games in September will go out before games in November.

Are paper applications available?

No. The task of sorting and processing paper applications is incredibly labor intensive and ultimately does, in our minds, a dis-service to our members. Thus, we’ve committed to streamlining the process by going to an entirely online system.

We understand this is different than what we’ve done in the past and that change can be difficult for some. However, we’re committed to providing the best customer service possible and firmly believe that taking advantage of electronic/online opportunities will ultimately provide the best experience for the most people.

Why can’t we submit applications in person anymore?

Historically, we’ve accepted applications in person and applications were processed on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. We feel this system gave local alumni an unfair advantage over alumni who lived out of state. Therefore, we made a decision to change our procedure and will now randomly select applications from all received.

I don’t have internet access or an email address, how will I be able to submit an application?

To participate in the Football Saturdays Ticket Program, you’ll need to create an email address, as well as a U-M assigned login name (also referred to as a uniqname) and Kerberos password. To acquire a U-M uniqname and password, visit www.alumni.umich.edu/get-a-uniqname

For those who don’t have Internet access or an email address we suggest several options. We recommend you check with family or friends who have Internet access; we’re sure they would be willing to offer guidance and assistance. Additionally, most (if not all) public libraries offer computer access and have staff available to assist you. And finally, if necessary, the Customer Relations staff at the Alumni Association is available to answer any questions and help wherever possible. You may call us during regular business hours at 800.847.4764.

I want to get tickets with other alumni friends. What should I do?

If you wish to be seated with friends at a particular game you need to do several things. First of all, both/all applications should rank the same game(s) as the highest priority. Secondly, IF both/all applications are selected for the same game, when purchasing tickets please add the names of those you’d like to be seated with in the “Notes” section of the online order form. We will make every attempt to satisfy these requests.

Please note, if both/all applications are not selected then we obviously will not be able to satisfy this request. Please also remember that for every game (other than Michigan State) you may request up to 10 tickets per application.
