UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
Alumni Student Recruitment
Calendar of Activities
Adopt-A-School Program
September-October
- Review alumni Student Recruitment Handbook and web site: www.umalumni.com/asr
- Deliver ‘M-Go-Blue’ packet to your adopted high school(s).
This meeting should last approximately 15 minutes. Fill out the High School
introduction letter with your information. If you are unable to meet with
the counselor, drop the packet off and be sure to leave the introduction letter
(attaching it to the folder).
November-December
- Answer calls/questions from prospective students and encourage students
from your adopted school to apply to the U-M.
January – March
- Receive several rosters of admitted students. Make congratulatory calls
and send post cards, letters or emails to encourage students to enroll. Please
note that we are unable to provide a timetable for rosters at this time. We
will provide advance notice when dates are set.
April
- Make a second contact to all admitted students. If you have the resources,
offer to meet for coffee or dessert with the student and their parent to discuss
what your U-M degree has meant to you. Talk informally about the university
and encourage them to attend the Campus Day program.
· Work with the local U-M alumni club and/or other Adopt-A-School volunteers
to organize an Admitted Student Reception to help convert admitted students
to enrolled students before the May 1st deadline. Please consider this very
worthwhile activity.
May – August
- Work with the local U-M alumni club and/or other Adopt-A-School volunteers
to organize a Summer Send-Off picnic, brunch, or reception for incoming students
from your area.
June
- Update new contact information and school chairs for next year.
